Beginning in 2011, The First Tee of Maine has been administered by the Maine Golf House, Inc. The Maine Golf House, Inc. (MGH) was founded by the Maine State Golf Association (MSGA), Southern Maine Women’s Golf Association (SMWGA) and the Women’s Maine State Golf Association (WMSGA), with representation from the Maine Chapter of the NEPGA, the Superintendents Association, the Maine Golf Hall of Fame and Golf Maine.
In 2012 the MGH changed its corporate governance to embrace The First Tee of Maine as its purpose, and the corporate Board of Directors is now the Board of The First Tee of Maine.
The First Tee of Maine offers life skills programs based on the Nine Core Values at Riverside Golf Course in Portland and Val Halla Golf Course in Cumberland, as well as at Fox Ridge GC in Auburn, Dunegrass Golf Club in Old Orchard Beach, South Portland Municipal GC, Bangor Municipal GC, Barnes Brook Golf in Lincoln, and an access affiliate at Province Lake Golf. New in 2015: Boothbay Harbor Country Club.
Beyond the full life skills program, The First Tee of Maine is available for Outreach programs that introduce The First Tee way to partner organizations such as Boys and Girls Clubs and Volunteers of America.
The First Tee of Maine also takes part in a collaboration with the Maine State Golf Association and the Maine Chapter of the NEPGA to promote, enhance, and grow opportunities for Junior golf in Maine. To that end, the organizations have established Junior Golf of Maine, a web site serving as a “central clearing house where junior golfers of all levels can go to find out about golfing opportunities in The Pine Tree State.”
